From Yorkshire to Ibiza

what's your name, where you from?

West Yorkshire born DJ Hellena Rebranded embarked on a career as a professional DJ only six years ago. Self-taught on vinyl, she spent hours studying her collection, gaining the underpinning knowledge of how tracks were constructed to enable her to put together some incredible sets early on in her journey. Her Club Classics mixes on Soundcloud were some of the first she did; the series of six now has over 30,000 combined plays to date.

(oh) we're going to ibiza

Hellena began to create interest in the music industry. Record label Jango asked her to play for them at the Amsterdam Dance Event and her UK bookings were alongside house music legends of the scene such as Allister Whitehead and Stonebridge yet the bookings were few and far between despite both her fan base growing and mix plays increasing rapidly. Frustrated by the lack of opportunities in the UK, in 2016 Hellena took the opportunity to visit Ibiza for three weeks to play for Liquid Live radio station. The following year she returned to work a full season, networking and making contacts. She made the decision to move permanently to Ibiza in 2018 and played regularly at Cala Bassa and Deeva Beach Clubs but her season was cut short after a kidney infection became so serious that she had to be admitted to hospital and faced a long recovery.

The sun finally shone on Hellena in 2019 with her becoming one of the resident DJs at Savannah on the famous sunset strip. She also started her own night Sweetcheeks.

Hellena is often told that she's an inspiration for making the brave decision to relocate to a country alone in order to follow her passion and dream of becoming a DJ at an age when most are thinking that it's too late to change their lives.
